We currently have a number of exciting projects in the hotel and leisure, creative re-use and housing sectors which offer candidates a great opportunity to join a dynamic, forward-thinking practice that has seen sustainable growth in response to an expanding workload.

The range of our architectural work is extremely broad and reflects our ethos to work on interesting projects for interesting clients. Key sectors include, schools, creative reuse, hotels, sports clubs, housing, and conservation, but we enjoy the challenge of developing new sectors when opportunities present themselves.

When we are not designing buildings we organise regular social, sporting and design events. We have an annual sailing awayday and whole-heartily encourage our staff to get involved in the local professional and construction industry bodies, including paying membership fees where appropriate.

Architect and Project Leader

Bristol

We have an immediate requirement for an enthusiastic architect to work on prestigious, complex projects across a variety of sectors. Recent commissions include a high-end hotel and spa, the conversion of a large Grade II listed manor house; a 100-unit Passivhaus residential scheme; and a six-storey mixed-use development within Bristol City Centre.

Skill and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience.
  • The ideal candidate will need a strong portfolio illustrating excellent design skills.
  • It will be necessary to demonstrate knowledge of construction and building regulation and be capable of leading a small team within the office to develop existing and new opportunities.
  • It is essential that candidates have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have managed the organisation of planning submissions and tender packages in collaboration with external consultants.
  • It would be beneficial for applicants to have experience on projects from inception through to completion, including the contract administration role.

Software:
MicroStation, Revit; NBS, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

This is a full time position and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Architectural Technician/Technologist

Bristol

We currently have an opportunity for a qualified Architectural Technician/Technologist to work with our Bristol team.

The ideal candidate will be able to support the project architect in the delivery and development of technical packages for construction, collect and analyse technical information to assist the development of project design, produce detailed drawings, plans, documents and specifications for use in projects and tenders as appropriate.

Skill and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience of supporting delivery of large project on site.
  • Excellent MicroStation skills.
  • Revit skills and experience of BIM projects desirable.
  • Strong technical design skills, construction knowledge and construction detailing.
  • Thorough knowledge of building regulations, and ability to work within planning legislation and design guidelines e.g. British Standards.
  • Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties and work effectively under pressure and meet deadline effectively.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team, assisting and supporting team members.
  • Ability to translate and achieve design intent of high architectural quality.
  • Experience working on listed buildings or historically sensitive projects.
  • Relevant HNC/HND/BSc level in an architectural based study.

Software:
Essential: MicroStation, NBS, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Desirable: Photoshop, Revit.

BIM Manager/Coordinator

Bristol

Childs+Sulzmann Architects have an opportunity for a Building Information Modelling (BIM) Manager to join our growing team in the Bristol office. The role will initially focus on formulating and implementing our BIM strategy and requires a candidate with an exceptional working knowledge of Revit; a clear understanding of BIM Level 2 standards; and experience working within the architectural discipline.

Candidates should be enthusiastic, organised and have good communication skills and will be responsible for reporting and advising the Board of Directors as the implementation strategy progresses as well as support the delivery of work. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a challenge and who is confident that they can manage changes to systems and workflows within an established practice that is seeking to fully adopt Revit.

Responsibilities:

  • BIM Coordination and daily management of BIM project data sets/workflows and project set up
  • Delivering the project BIM methods, processes and guidance when required
  • Ensure BIM standards are met and adhered to
  • Coordinate the implementation of BIM on new projects
  • Technical management of project BIM data sets
  • Manage and maintain project content and source additional content for project teams
  • Help to technically deliver BIM projects in the role of CAD and BIM coordination
  • Provide technical support for Revit to the project team
  • Provide one-to-one mentoring on 'Best Practice' workflows to project teams as required
  • Deliver project team mentoring in Revit
  • Prepare project specific training documentation and project BIM execution plans
  • To contribute or otherwise assist as required

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Able to demonstrate the ability to undertake the above responsibilities
  • Major project BIM experience Autodesk Revit and associated technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of Autodesk Revit 2016 and above, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience of using Revit on design/construction projects.
  • In depth knowledge of how to implement BIM, including collaborative working processes (BS1192:2007, BS1192:4 and PAS1192:2,3,5)
  • Good knowledge of 2D/3D AutoCAD
  • Experience of working in a project coordination role for design systems
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team
  • Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally
